Accessible, fast interfaces in React or plain HTML/CSS. We ship the parts of the UI that are easy to get wrong and expensive to fix later.

Offline-first inspection app for utility crews. Redesigned the capture flow and cut average report time from 14 to 6 minutes.

Design system and component library for a bookkeeping product, replacing four inconsistent internal UI kits with one.

Patient-facing scheduling interface with WCAG 2.2 AA compliance from day one. Shipped in nine weeks with a team of three.
About the studio
We started Unknown Studio in 2022 after years inside larger product teams. The idea was simple: do fewer projects, do them properly, and stay small enough to be honest with clients.
We're based in Rotterdam and work with teams across Europe. Most engagements run six to twelve weeks, and we prefer to work directly with founders and engineering leads rather than through layers of coordination.
Maarten de Vries leads design — flows, systems and the uncomfortable questions about scope. Lotte Bakker leads front-end and makes sure what we design is what actually ships. Before the studio, we spent eight years between us at a fintech in Amsterdam and a logistics scale-up in Utrecht.
